Villa in the Vienna Woods
For a hillside plot overlooking the Vienna Woods, Labvert conceived a villa defined by bold architectural clarity. A rigorously cubic, three-story volume is envisioned wrapped in a finely articulated skin of grooved glass, lending the building a captivating sense of depth and texture. The interplay of light and material creates a luminous, flowing composition that enhances the villa’s sculptural presence.
Drawing on the Californian houses of Richard Neutra, the design embraces openness, transparency, and a close relationship with the surrounding landscape. At the same time, Pierre Chareau’s Maison de Verre informs the spatial concept: the entrance is set at an angle to the silver-grey façade, choreographing the approach as a sequence and allowing the architecture to unfold gradually.
The family’s living and leisure spaces extend across three levels, complemented by a guest apartment, studio, fitness area, and sauna. On the upper floor, oriented toward the back garden, an outdoor kitchen and pool terrace open to expansive views across the valley and the wooded slopes of the Wienerwald.
Every element is conceived as part of a holistic whole. A restrained palette of materials and colors runs consistently throughout, creating an atmosphere that is calm, precise, and quietly refined.
